Comment:
Speed Racer Enterprises initially planned to release the series as Speed Racer Y2K, however only a single episode (Silver Phantom) was completed.
The series aired in the U.S. on Nickelodeon's SLAM! programming block. Unfortunately, it went off the air after a few weeks when Nickelodeon discontinued the SLAM! block without warning. The future of the series is uncertain, as Speed Racer Enterprises and DiC Entertainment are involved in a long-standing legal battle over copyright control.
While 52 episodes of Speed Racer 2000 were supposed to have been produced, only 34 were broadcast.
