Yomiuri Shimbun's Sugoi Japan Awards' Intermediate Results Announced

Yomiuri Shimbun's 2016 Sugoi Japan Awards opened voting last month to promote pop cultural works that fans feel are most deserving of foreign attention. The awards have four categories—anime, manga, light novels, and "entertainment novels." Voting is still open until January 3, but the official website announced the intermediary results ahead of the official winners announcement on March 22.

- Man-Gan ("Fulfilled Vow") by Honobu Yonezawa
The awards promote the works that have the "universality," "originality" and "potential" to be big international hits. The time frame is the last 3.5 years, except for anime, which is only from the past year. A total of 92 works were originally selected by fans and "experts" in July.
