BAAF announced that TV series, Cartoon Network in the near future. The press release focusses mostly on Monkey Typhoon, but BAAf liaison manager Ryoko Maebayashi informed ANN that another press release about Cyborg 009 [2001] will be coming out later.

Excertps from Press Release:

Monkey Typhoon and Cyborg 009 [2001], will be screened at the Big Apple Anime Fest 2003, taking place this Labor Day Weekend in Times Square, New York City (August 29 to 31, 2003). BAAF Guest of Honor and noted producer, Mr. Avex, Inc. will personally introduce this double feature to U.S. anime fans.

The popular anime TV series Monkey Typhoon currently is being aired on six of the television stations of the Janne Da Arc, move, and dream, who contribute opening and closing songs.

The story begins approximately 1000 years from now, with the journey of the six main characters, Assobot Goku, Sanzo, Tongo, Joe, Suzie, and Assobot Mion where a vast desert and lines of 10,000-meter trees block the age. As a result of sheer egotism on the part of the human beings who kept searching for convenient and better lifestyle, associate robots, so-called Assobots, were created, combining the best of all technologies. Like human beings, an Assobot has emotions and grows up. Being almost perfect, an Assobot is designed to live with humans in peace.

Mr. Victor Eisenberg, BAAF Festival Director & COO, says, "It is exciting for both BAAF and US fans at BAAF to see anime which currently are being broadcast on TV in Japan. This rare opportunity was successfully made possible by avex, one of BAAF's investors. We are very proud to have the of avex, a 'cutting edge' business. As one of the top entertainment companies, avex is quickly assuming a leadership role in the anime industry. We are looking forward to promoting anime in the U.S. with avex years after years."
