Japanese Box Office, March 12-13

Ashita no Joe stay on charts

Doraemon: Nobita and the Platoon of Iron Men), dropped from #1 to #2 in its second weekend. It earned the equivalent of US$1,959,036 on 261 screens for a total-to-date of US$8,384,832.

The first film in Gantz action manga fell from #5 to #7 in its seventh weekend. It earned US$373,339 on 223 screens to add to its total of US$38,589,007.

Macross Frontier science-fiction series, dropped from #8 to #9 in its third weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's chart. (It dropped from #7 to #8 on Box Office Mojo's chart.) It earned US$272,034 on 28 screens for a gross-to-date of US$4,361,068.

The live-action film version of Ashita no Joe dropped from #10 to #13 in its fifth weekend with US$158,815 on 192 screens. It now has a gross-to-date of US$12,124,367.

The live-action film Mainichi Kaa-san is no longer listed on either chart. The new #1 and #3 films are the live-action drama spinoff SP Kakumei-Hen and Disney's 3D animated film Tangled.
