Journalist: K-ON! Film Earns 316 Million Yen in 2 Days (Updated)

The film journalist Hiroo Otaka Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of Tintin at the weekend Japanese box office. According to Otaka, K-ON! earned 316,310,000 yen ($4,054,000) on 137 screens during the December 3-4 weekend. By contrast, Tintin needed 895 screens to earn 319,290,000 yen ($4,092,000) in the four days between December 1 and December 4.

Update: The K-ON! film made more in two days than US$5,302,760).
Update 2: Kogyo Tsushinsha reported that the K-ON! film sold 237,800 tickets during the weekend. By contrast, Tintin sold 148,800 tickets for 219,500,000 yen (US$2.822 million) on the same December 3-4 weekend (as opposed to the four days since its December 1 opening).
