Shinkai's Weathering With You Film Opens in the Philippines on August 28

Philippine film distributor Pioneer Film announced on Monday that its Weathering With You (Tenki no Ko) will open in the Philippines on August 28.

SM Cinema previously listed the film with an August 21 opening.

The film earned 1,277,960,000 yen ($12.51 million at the time) in its first three days.

The film has sold 4,336,897 tickets to earn 5,908,466,600 yen ($55.7 million) in its first 17 days.

Shinkai confirmed that the film will get a worldwide release, and releases have already been decided for North America, Europe, Asia, and South America.

Shinkai is credited with the original work, and also directed and wrote the film's scripts for sang RADWIMPS' "Grand Escape (Movie edit) feat. Tōko Miura" and "Shukusai (Movie edit) feat. Tōko Miura" theme songs for the film.
