The Super Mario Bros. Movie Earns Estimated US$26 Million in U.S. on Opening Day (Updated)

Update: Deadline reported on Thursday that the film has earned US$31.7 million in its opening day in the U.S. The film's global one-day total is US$66.4 million.
Deadline estimates that the film will earn US$92 million in its first three days in the U.S., and US$141 million in its first five days from Wednesday to Sunday. Deadline previously estimated through previous reports that the film would earn US$86.2 million in its first three days in the U.S., and US$127.5 million in its first five days..
The film slated to open on December 21.

Other cast include Nintendo characters in games, also voices "surprise cameos" in the film.
The Japanese dub cast are:
- Mamoru Miyano as Mario
- Arisa Shida as Peach
- Tasuku Hatanaka as Luigi
- Kenta Miyake as Bowser
- Tomokazu Seki as Toad
Illumination founder Shigeru Miyamoto. Meledandri stated that Miyamoto was "front and center in the creation of this film" and noted that the "original creative voice" is often absent from Hollywood film adaptations.
Nintendo Universal Pictures funded the project, and Universal Pictures is distributing the film worldwide.
