Anime Again Shut Out of Annie Nominations
posted on by Mikhail Koulikov
No anime nominated since Howl's Moving Castle in 2005
The nominations for the 2007 Annie Awards, which recognize outstanding achievement in animation screened or commercially released in the United States during the year, have been announced. As was the case last year, no nominations went to films or programs originally created in Japan, and no individuals working on anime productions received nominations in the individual achievement categories.
The last time an anime was nominated for an Annie was in 2005, when Spirited Away going on to win the category in 2002.
The Annies are awarded by the Hollywood chapter of The International Animated Film Society. The award ceremony will be held on February 8.
