Ghibli's From Up On Poppy Hill Wins Japan Academy Prize

Competed against Detective Conan
Detective Conan: Quarter of Silence. The Best Picture of the Year honor went to the live-action film Yōkame no Semi.
The live-action film Moshi Kōkō Yakyū no Joshi Manager ga Drucker no "Management" o Yondara (Moshidora) baseball novel.
The manga-based live-action Yoshio Harada (Azumi) was honored with a Chairperson's Special Prize.
The Animation of the Year category was only created five years ago. Last year, Spirited Away.
