The Boy and the Heron Will Come to Netflix in U.K.

Kimi-tachi wa Dō Ikiru ka) in the UK and in international territories except for Japan and the US.

Netflix's distribution of the film is described as "beginning on October 7" although it is not specified if it will be available in the UK on that date. (The announcement does mention that the film will be available in in 2025.) However, The Boy and the Heron is already listed as forthcoming on Netflix's main page.

The platform is already streaming Hayao Miyazaki's and Studio Ghibli's other feature films in the UK. The only other Ghibli film yet to be added is Grave of the Fireflies, pictured left, which will be added to Netflix on Monday September 16.

The film announced ahead of its February 14 ceremony that the film would receive the Noburou Oofuji Award, which honors animated works that offer new forms of creative expression.

The film opened in Japan in July 2023, and sold 1.003 million tickets and third highest-grossing domestic film in Japan in 2023 with an 8.66 billion yen ($61.4 million) gross.
