Entertainment news website Deadline reported on Thursday that Alex Garland is in talks with actor Kit Connor (Heartstopper, The Wild Robot, Warfare) to star in the planned live-action Hollywood FromSoftware's Elden Ring game. According to Deadline, both Garland and Connor "want this to happen," if scheduling can be worked out.

Connor recently starred in Warfare, which Garland co-directed.

Garland (Ex Machina, Annihilation, Civil War) is set to direct and write the Elden Ring film at A24. Peter Rice is producing alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich from DNA, with George R. R. Martin and Vince Gerardis also credited as producers.

FromSoftware launched in June 2024 for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. The base Elden Ring game is required for the expansion.

Hidetaka Miyazaki (Dark Souls, Dark Souls III, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice) and author George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) collaborated in creating the game's world.

The game won Game of the Year at the nominated for Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, Best Score and Music, and Best RPG at The Game Awards 2024.

A new standalone Elden Ring multiplayer co-op PvE launch for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC via Steam on May 30.

Garland previously wrote the zombie apocalypse film 28 Days Later and the psychological sci-fi thriller Sunshine, both starring Cillian Murphy. He directed and wrote the Ex Machina, Annihilation, and Civil War films, and wrote and co-directed the Warfare film, which opened on April 11. He is writing the 28 Years Later film opening on June 20. He was also the story supervisor on the DmC: Devil May Cry video game released in 2013.
