Okawa launched a "new series" titled Poputan on Manga Life Win in October 2019, only to retroactively reveal that it is actually Pop Team Epic's season 5. He would employ similar naming jokes for later seasons. Takeshobo published the compiled book volume for the manga's "season 7" on July 14, 2023.
The manga's "season 8" hiatus in the following month. Okawa explained the hiatus was due to him not feeling well. Okawa launched the current "season 9" on April 1, 2025.
The manga's television anime series premiered in January 2018. premiered in October 2022.
Okawa most recently launched the Monthly Comic Dengeki Daioh magazine on September 27.
